I'm starting a new part of my blog with posts I'm writing just for my kids. Things that I feel like they just have to learn. I want to share with them things I've learned or am learning, things that are important enough to be documented... forever! Things that sometime you can only hear from your Mom. I'm writing it now. In case something happens or maybe because now is when I remember. I feel like my kids need to know me. They need to know why I do what I do or what brought me to where I am and most importantly I feel like they need to be able to see themselves through my eyes. So Ethan? Lorali? Owen? You paying attention? This is for you....
Life Lessons on Hair
First, you all have great hair. Beautiful and Blonde and Lots of it! The trick with hair is this.... never cut it yourself. This is one lesson I really need you to learn from my mistakes and I've searched and searched for photo proof that I'm sure would be enough proof for you to know for sure how firm this advice is but I obviously was smart enough to stay away from the camera after I did it. So you'll just have to trust me. Hand the scissors and clippers to someone else. Another tidbit of information about hair; it's not always the wisest decision to get a drastic haircut when you're already going through something drastic. Just sayin'. With that being said. Have fun with your hair. Don't take it so seriously. Color it Blue, have a mohawk for the summer, and be silly sometimes. You might make hair mistakes and it's okay to cry about the mistakes but not for very long. It's okay because it always grows out, it's always changing and it's not concrete. I love that you all got my blonde hair and Daddy's thickness. Although I do wish there was at least one red-head baby in the family so I'm assigning it out as your job to give me at least one red-head or strawberry blonde grand-baby... and then teach them a few very important lessons about hair...
I love you,
Mom

it is also wise to learn how to do a basic men's hair cut and then retain that knowledge. Daddy learned this skill on his mission- and hasn't touched hair since. That is until earlier this month...

it started out well and good but Owen? you know that big scar on your left ear? Yeah... it happened about 30 seconds after I took the above picture. You taught us another invaluable lesson on hair... you probably shouldn't cut wiggly toddlers hair either. So do me a favor, no cutting my Grandbabies hair, okay? Their little ears are too cute to risk. Just sayin'.

Love you,
Mom
