For the last few weeks I've been trying to find a little time to try my hand at Homemade Chinese Food.... and everything seemed to get in the way. I had the ingredients out for over a week just waiting for me to have the time/attention to dig in. Maybe it was the intimidation factor or the unknown but when I finally whipped everything up? Sseriously, it was well worth the wait! This is hands down my families new favorite meal, EVER! It was so much easier then I thought and soo yummy, I had to share the recipes.
Honey Walnut Shrimp-
This recipe started it all, my sister-in-law, Teri, suggested I try it and THANK YOU, TERI! Seriously, soo delicious. It's from Bread Plus Butter (and you know with a name like that it's got to be good!). Her recipe only makes 2-4 servings so I doubled it and while I was making the sauce found out that I like it sweeter so I added double the amount of condensed milk . it was a quick make too... Delicious. Try it. You can thank me later.
Homemade Fried Rice-
I got this one as a Panda Express copycat fried rice recipe from Food.com. It was surprisingly WAY easier then I thought it would be, it makes a lot of a little effort and the leftovers I froze and have used later and it's JUST as good the second time. It's a new staple at our house.
This one was a bit more labor intensive BUT completely worth it! I already had the oil hot/ready for the shrimp so it wasn't any more mess either. The kids actually did every step of it except the frying and everyone LOVED them. Not to toot my own horn but, I actually think they're better then any resturants rangoons I've ever had. This recipe is 'da Bomb! It makes like 50 rangoons so next time I make it I think I'll make then freeze to see if it works just as well as the rice. (side note; I used REAL crab meat... Husbandface actually thinks that IMMITATION crab meat is better so I'll try making it with that next time but, I doubt my version can be beat... just sayin'.)
