I guess asked this all the time. Why?? The answer changes almost daily and sometimes I'm the one asking myself the question and I second guess our situation. I'm asked this even more with the upcoming move... 'are you still going to homeschool?! ' As if to say, 'You have an out, why aren't you taking it?' So tonight, at 3 am I will answer this question. Not for anyone but myself and my kids because this answer changes all the time and for now the answer is important.
I homeschool because I can. I know it is a privilege that I may not always have. I know I may have to go back to work or my kids learning styles and preferences might change, our health might change and a million other factors might come up that have an affect on my kids education choices. Right now, my kids love to learn and they are succeeding learning at home. Right now I am enjoying sharing my passion for knowledge and growth with them. Right now they are thriving and happy and growing and I am lucky to be along on their journey. I homeschool because when we study ocean life for months and show up at the Georgia Aquarium, their faces light up and they cant stop pointing out tiny details about what they learned. They ask the staff a million questions and they are filled with wonder. I homeschool because they are sharing what they learn with each other and building a bond with each other that it quickly becoming the most valuable parts of their lives.
I homeschool today because I can.
