Every year I come here it seems like something always makes it 'the most' memorable. We're only on day 1 but already I've laughed until my sides hurt and had the time of my life. I woke up this morning at home, well at Mom and Dads in Draper, which for some reason I can't stop considering home. We were up and driving early and yeah! I didn't get car sick. Once we checked into the b&b we stopped for a bite then went straight into see The Music Man. Such a fun, happy feel-good show. Great choreography, amazing acting and of course, the mark of a perfect musical? music I won't be able to get out of my head all weekend.
From there we barely moved seats and watched the behind the scenes- changing of the scenes. Super fascinating to see the teardown and setup between the matinee and evening performances.
After that we had a few minutes to stop by our room and drop off a few gifts I had gotten for the kids before we headed to orientation, the green show and grabbed a quick bite before sitting down in the Adams theatre for an outdoor presentation of A Midsummer Nights Dream. Check out who Dad was sitting next to. Senator Harry Reid (what you don't see is the dozen secret servicemen seated on all sides of us!)- while he wasn't all that impressive to me, his wife was wearing the cutest dress ever- just sayin'. Oh... back to the show, it was hilarious, inspiring and visually delicious! The weather, the costumes, the setting, the actors and the accents... So perfect and relevant and enjoyable. I'm not sure much will be able to top this one. It epitomized the Utah Shakespearean Festival in my book. Okay I am nit on Utah time quite yet so I'm off to bed. More tomorrow!
